BISHOPS will be bringing two hairstylists to cut hair at the event on a first come, first serve basis!
We are hoping to provide a safe and inclusive experience for folx to get an affirming haircut in a setting and space that feels safe and validating by providing haircuts at this event.
Bishops is minority owned & woman / LGBTQIA+ led and staffed.
"Founded in Portland in 2001 as the alternative to high end salons and cheap chop shops, Bishops was one of the first to introduce customers to the ‘all-ages and all-genders are welcome’ salon experience (as well as being one of the first to hand 21+ clients a beer while they waited!). At Bishops, it is not just about haircuts and hair color, it’s about being yourself and finding community. Our foundation rests on customer service, taking pride in our craft, creating a space where everyone is accepted, and being passionate about what we do (not just related to hair)."
Entre Hermanos will be providing day-of HIV testing, counseling, and education!
Entre Hermanos' mission:
To promote the health and well-being of the Latino Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, and questioning community in a culturally appropriate environment through disease prevention, education, support services, advocacy and community building.
Lavender Rights Project will be bringing all of their documents from their monthly identity document clinics for name and gender marker changes on state/federal IDs.
Lavender Rights Project's mission:
Lavender Rights Project (LRP) advances a more just and equitable society by providing low-cost civil legal services and community programming centered in values of social justice for trans and queer low-income people and other marginalized communities.
Through direct representation and community programming, our by-and-for services aim to radically re-imagine the legal landscape for LGBTQ+ people while building community resilience, encouraging self-advocacy, and asserting the rights of marginalized populations.
Ana Norell (they/them)
of Anew Reiki
Ana will be at the event to give a limited number (6 slots) of free, 20 minutes Reiki sessions (available 1-4 pm, email anew.breath.reiki@gmail.com to schedule!) Ana Norell of Anew Reiki is a certified Reiki Master Teacher. Their practice is trauma-informed and focuses on ancestral connection, connecting with the body, mindfulness, translating messages from spirits, self-empowerment, grounding, boundaries, and pondering anti-oppressive, non-culturally appropriative spiritual practices. Self-healing, personal growth and accountability continue to be a part of Ana's daily personal energy work practice.
Reiki can aid in self-transformation, ease physical discomfort, work through and process emotional pain, facilitate a spiritual experience and ultimately bring relaxation. Creating goals and intentions together, through collaboration is ideal to the Reiki process. What we discover could come to us as visual, audible, metaphorical, symbolic, elemental, magical, physical, ancestral and/or spiritual messages.
Ana is currently in graduate school at Antioch University, studying to be a Clinical Mental Health Counselor and Art Therapist.
*Anew Reiki offers reduced Reiki session pricing for folks with marginalized identities, students, or anyone else the price difference would make Reiki more accessible for. They also have noted that beginning in January 2020, 10% of all monthly Reiki healing proceeds will be donated to organizations that support Black and Indigenous, Queer and Trans communities and individuals, such as the Trans Women of Color Collective and/or Real Rent Duwamish.

Vogue Performance
by the House of Essence
Vogue originated from the Ballroom Community in Harlem NY during the 70s and 80s. This form of self expression and kinship was created by and for Black and Latinx LGBTQ individuals who were marginalized and excluded from society. This community came together to create a safe space for themselves and address social determinants and HIV/AIDS in their own unique ways. The House of Essence, founded in Seattle, WA by Sefina Essence and Ron Gatsby, is one of the many houses currently active in the PNW. Their members have performed for Queer Bar, Fred Wildlife Refuge, Seattle Pride Fest, Pacific NW Ballet, Paradiso, Nordstrom, and many more. They are also community leaders advocating for LGBTQ POC rights and health resources.
